How the hell does this thing work?
The industry will have you believe that it’s only professionals who can use a camera in manual mode. The truth is, even as little as 40 years ago, the most amateur of photographer understood the basics of exposure.
It’s really not that complicated, and I personally believe that this is the foundation of becoming a better photographer. To understand exactly what your camera is doing, to understand its limitations and how to manipulate it for your own good is the first step on a journey of limitless possibilities.
To be tuned into your camera is to be tuned into your surroundings, and there will be more purpose behind the photographs that you make.
Basics is a one day event where we will cover camera operation and apply that to a photowalk. While walking we will talk about settings, looking at our surroundings and shooting manually. This is also your opportunity to ask questions and get real time feedback on issues that arise. There will be mistakes, many mistakes, which we will review over dinner and drinks at the end of the day.
The photographs we miss teach us to get the photographs we want.
There will be a maximum of 5 places per event to ensure you receive my full attention for the day.
